Position Summary
A recognized world-wide leader in the prevention and treatment of pediatric AIDS, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation engages with public and private donors to maximize the resources available for achieving our goals of preventing pediatric infection and eradicating pediatric aids. The Foundation is currently active in seventeen countries to provide essential prevention, care and treatment services to women, children and families affected by AIDS. In order to maintain and grow our revenue base, the Foundation places New Business Development as one of its top priorities for the coming years.
The New Business Development Manager will work as a key member of the New Business Development Team, under the direction of the Director of New Business Development and Institutional Relations. He/she will act in a leadership role to ensure ongoing financial support for the Foundation’s International Family AIDS Initiatives; linking critical new business development efforts to the Foundation’s strategic plan.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build and refine the Foundation’s systems and strategies for proposal development and revenue diversification through new business efforts.
- Lead the Foundation’s participation in several funding consortia (TASC 3 and AIDSTAR I), including coordinating responses and input for RFTOPs.
- Engage Foundation proposal development teams, including technical, finance, and contracts and grants personnel, in the preparation of competitive proposals
- Manage the development of proposals in collaboration with Foundation technical staff based both in the U.S. and overseas.
-Lead New Business Development staff efforts to gather and analyze intelligence regarding upcoming new business opportunities from the USG and other donors and to prepare the Foundation to successfully respond.
- Actively participate in the new business working group to make decisions regarding new business opportunities and to prepare formal recommendations to senior staff
- Drive efforts to develop new partnerships with donors and other international health players with a focus on relationship building with key contacts.
- Mentor and guide the development of other staff in the New Business Development Unit.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant international work experience, with demonstrated emphasis in new business development and progressive movement into management-oriented positions.
- Strong proposal development skills and writing ability, evidenced by successfully awarded grants and/or contracts from the U.S. Government and other donors.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. Government grant/contract mechanisms and associated regulations.
- Experience in the HIV/AIDS international public health arena.
- Ability to navigate the negotiation of complex concepts, approaches, and teaming arrangements.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven leadership ability in managing all stages of proposal development: competition analysis, conceptual framework design, negotiation of partner roles, and leadership of technical writing.
- Proven ability to work effectively and multi-task as member of a dynamic inter-departmental team in a fast-paced environment.
- French and/or Portuguese language skills, a plus
- Ability to travel to support country program teams (estimated at 15-20%)
