(CLOSED) Project Manager Livelihoods and Market Development, Ethiopia

For almost 50 years, CHF (formerly Canadian Hunger Foundation), a Canadian NGO based in Ottawa, has been helping poor rural communities in developing countries to attain sustainable livelihoods. Working in partnership with local NGOs, CHF develops effective, sustainable and transformational development solutions.

Location: Ethiopia - Addis Ababa

CHF is inviting applications for the three-year post of Project Manager (PM), Livelihoods and Market Development, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The PM would be responsible for the field-level management and implementation of the CHF components of the consortium-based Food Security and Economic Growth (FSEG) project in the Region of Benishangul-Gumuz. As a member of the consortium Senior Management Team, the PM will work closely with other consortium managers to effectively optimize project resources and ensure cohesive and complementary project implementation.

Education and Experience
- Post-secondary degree in business, economic development or a related discipline;
- Minimum 10 years project management experience;
- Minimum 5 years pro-poor market development and value chain experience; and
- Strong field experience in developing countries, preferably with CIDA-funded projects.

Essential Skills
- Creative, entrepreneurial and resourceful approach to identifying and developing pro-poor economic growth opportunities;
- Skilled in applying SLA and/or Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) framework;
- Skilled in participatory project planning, monitoring and RBM;
- Skilled in designing and delivering capacity building activities;
- Skilled in leading cross-cultural teams and/or working with consortiums;
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communications skills;
- Ability to travel regularly, sometimes under challenging conditions; and
- Canadian citizen or landed immigrant status essential.
