(CLOSED) Organisational Development Advisor

Salary: £26,586 to £29,052
Benefits: plus £2,000 hardship allowance

The Mine Action Coordination Centre Afghanistan (MACCA) has recently launched a new concept of mine action operations within the country that involves devolved responsibility to Implementing Partners (IP), one of whom is OMAR.

The Organisation for Mine Clearance & Afghan Rehabilitation (OMAR), have been operating in Afghanistan since 1990. MAG personnel deployed to Afghanistan will operate with the senior management teams at OMAR at a strategic level to enable them to achieve improved efficiency, effectiveness and safety and meet specified clearance targets.

MAG is looking to recruit an experienced Organisational Development Advisor (ODA) to undertake a detailed analysis of OMAR’s organisation in coordination with their senior manager. Using appropriate organisational development tools and methodologies, the ODA will examine their structure, systems and strategy as well as OMAR’s staff, skills and culture. Areas for further improvement will be identified and a set of action points and timelines for their achievement will be agreed upon in close consultation with OMAR. Supporting senior OMAR members of staff in analysing their organisation’s own strength and weaknesses will be a precursor for positive change and internal improvement.

This will require previous experience of working at a senior level in an overseas project that includes responsibility for project design, development, monitoring and evaluation. In addition you will have worked in partnership with a local organisations and have thorough knowledge of current best practices in capacity building. In addition, you will need to be able to demonstrate the ability to transfer knowledge to a diverse audience through participatory adult training, mentoring and other formal and non-formal methods.

The successful candidate will also require excellent project management skills and the ability to build effective relationships with local authorities, donors and local staff.
