Network IT Specialist

Management Systems International (MSI) is a global international development firm based in Washington, D.C. providing specialized short- and long-term technical assistance. MSI is currently hiring on behalf of United States Agency for International Development (USAID). USAID is an independent federal government agency that focuses on promoting development around the world. Project/Proposal Summary:

The mission of this project is to promote a political stability in Iraq. The program is designed to improve the functioning of the Council of Representatives (COR) – the highest body of democratic institutions in Iraq. The project is intended to build capacity of the parliament members to debate laws in a formal constructive environment, to form and run parliamentary committees, to analyze and properly vet proposed legislation, to improve the functioning of the Speakers Office in its role as Parliamentary oversight, to improve the ability of parliament to oversee the executive branch and national budget, and to ensure greater participation of political parties from all factions and regions.

Position Summary:

The IT Specialist will work closely with the COR IT department to review and analyze existing network security infrastructure. The Specialist will study and review network infrastructure, security levels, network availability, VLAN-s and wireless access. The Specialist will assist in the design and day to day implementation of the network infrastructure and provide technical trainings to the COR IT team when necessary.

Responsibilities:

- Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed network infrastructure.
- Research, plan, and propose network equipment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration.
- Work as a team member with other technical staff to ensure network and hardware compatibility between systems.
- Provides technical training for the networking team.
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.
- Document security system problems and resolutions for future reference.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

- 3 or more years experience in enterprise network administration
- Excellent knowledge of Cisco equipment
- Certification on CCNP, CCDP or CCSP is preferable.
