Profile:
Working under the direct supervision of the Technical Advisor, Union Latin America Office, and under the functional supervision of the Head of Capacity Building, the Training Officer works to support the work of the Union’s programme of training for tobacco control in Latin America region, and in line with the strategic plan of the Union Latin America Office among:
- Union staff and consultants
- Subgrantees
- Attendees to Union workshops and courses
- Other key stakeholders as identified
Responsibilities:
- Coordination and Delivery of Face-to-Face Trainings under The Union Training and Development Programme, including:
- Acting as focal point in Latin America for The Union training programme.
- Organising technical and management training in country and regional level, including needs assessment, participant and faculty selection, and management of logistics.
- Participating as faculty to technical trainings, and technical sessions in management courses.
- Coordinating and delivering technical briefings to faculty prior to trainings.
- Managing supply of up-to-date training materials including translation.
- Managing the training databases in appropriate language.
- Reporting, evaluating and follow-up of technical trainings in agreed format and deadlines.
Coordination and Delivery of the On-line Technical Training, including:
- Acting as focal point in Latin America for The Union online training programme.
- Identifying and inviting participants.
- Managing the Latin America Office training database in appropriate language.
- Participating as a mentor for the participants.
- Managing up-to-date training materials including translation.
- Reporting, evaluation and follow-up of on-line training in agreed format and deadlines.
Management of the Supply of Technical Resources, including:
- Acting as country/region focal point for technical resources.
- Coordinating translation, proofreading and printing of technical resources to local language.
- Compiling and maintaining a set of technical resources for various stakeholders in local language.
Other:
- As a Latin America Office representative of The Union, coordinating the Union attendance to, and promoting the Union training and development programme in national, regional and international events as appropriate.
- Other related tasks as assigned, and agreed in collaboration, by the Head, Capacity Building and the Technical Advisor, Union Latin America Office.
Requirements:
- A first degree in a relevant discipline.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification an advantage.
- Minimum of two years working experience in tobacco control.
- Experience in any of the following a clear advantage:
- training and development
- project management
- website management
- resources development
- Strong oral and written communication, consultation and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to work to agreed schedules and standards.
- Flexible approach.
- Maturity, tact and diplomacy.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Web-based applications).
- Ability to travel internationally.
