I. Background on ACTED

ACTED is an independent international, private, non-partisan and non-profit organization that operates according to principles of strict neutrality, political and religious impartiality, and non discrimination.

ACTED was created in 1993 to support populations affected by the conflict in Afghanistan. Based in Paris, France, ACTED now operates in 25 countries worldwide, with over 160 international and 2500 national staff. ACTED has a 51 million € budget for over 260 projects spanning 8 sectors of intervention; including emergency relief, food security, health promotion, economic development, education & training, microfinance, local governance & institutional support, and cultural promotion.

II. Country Profile

The ACTED Middle East Regional Direction has been set up in Amman, Jordan in the end of 2006. and is currently being reorganized. The overall aim is to provide direction, control and support to the various ACTED country missions in the region, as well as incorporate a regional focus into ACTED’s global strategy, through:
- Control and monitor country missions’ programming in terms of compliance, relevance, quality, respect of deadlines and procedures
- Support the establishment of country strategies and identification of new potential opportunities of intervention at country / regional level
- Control the compliance with ACTED procedures and ensure a proper centralization of key information and documentation from country missions’ support departments (finance, administration, HR, logistics, etc.) and project documents,
- Facilitate and improve communication and information flows at internal and external level
- Improve qualitative processes established by HQ to strengthen ACTED’s global representation, policy and advocacy at regional level
- Facilitate the capitalization process by gathering key strategic documents related to countries and/approaches.
- Manage a resource centre with relevant documentation for the region

The Middle East Regional Direction monitors activities in the following countries / areas:
- Yemen
- Jordan
- Lebanon
- occupied Palestinian Territories
- Syria

III. Position Profile
The regional reporting intern supports the Program Development Manager within the regional support office. His/her scope of action will cover Lebanon, Jordan and the occupied Palestinian Territories.
He/She assists the Program Development Manager in developing internal and external country communication strategies. He/She ensures the production of timely reports and provide assistance with the follow up of the programs.
Under the supervision of the Program Development Manager, the reporting intern will:
- Collect and synthesize data from the field, and draft reports in cooperation with project management, finance, monitoring and evaluation, and other field coordination departments
- Assist the Program Development Manager in developing project proposals, addressing ad hoc donor requests or catalysing action on specific projects or components of projects
- Liaise with external partners and represent ACTED in coordination and information meetings with NGOs, donors, and other humanitarian actors.
- Ensure the follow up of the programs

IV. Qualifications:
- Postgraduate diploma in Journalism, International Relations or a relevant field
- Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure

V. Conditions:
Field Intern benefits include:
- 300 USD per month living allowance
- Coverage of all accommodation, food, and travel costs, a luggage allowance of 50 kg
- The provision of medical, repatriation, and life insurance.
