MISION
Médicos del Mundo Spain is health INGO. In Palestine is working mostly in Mental Health and Hospitals subsectors.
Project: Strengthen surgical capacity and emergency services in Gaza Strip hospitals
Duties:
- Coordinate and supervise Project activities, providing coherence with the intervention strategy of the organisation in the area. Specifically, the monitoring of emergency service improvement in a hospital and the preparation for specialised teams training visits (previous contact and monitoring to maximise the outcome of these visits). The coordinator has the responsibility of reaching results and objectives as specified.
- Represent the organisation Medicos del Mundo with the local partners, authorities, and local and international civil society organisations that are involved in the project and/or can be considered of interest for the organisation and the intervention area.
- Coordinate the local staff that is hired (admin.-log and health worker personnel). Coordinate and supervise the staff with the support of the Country coordinator. Responsibility for the whole team regarding adequate office management, both in terms of human resources as well as logistic and economic-administrative management, is under the Project Coordinator. Support will be provided from Country Coordination.
- Adequately Coordinate, plan and inform the Country Coordinator and the Head Office when necessary regarding progress and incidents related to project execution, and in general, about any other activity, issue or incident, both internal or external that has to do with the project or the organisation in the intervention area.
- Security is responsibility of the Country Coordinator, although team security must be warranted both in normal circumstances as well as during natural or human provoked catastrophes in the intervention area following a fixed security plan.
- Write up within set deadlines the required reports for the Country Coordination to prepare the following reports: bimonthly reports, reports for the project funders, internal monthly economic-administrative for Medicos del Mundo.
- Participate in the international coordination of MDM in the area.
- Within the Strategic Plan 2007/2010 of Medicos del Mundo, identify possible new projects that fit and are coherent with Medicos del Mundo policies.
- Participate with Country Coordination (when required) and the Medicos del Mundo Head Office in the development of a strategic plan for Medicos del Mundo for Palestine.
- All of the before mentioned points must address a gender perspective in each of its interventions, thus meeting the organisation’s strategic plan requirement for 2007/2010.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
Academic: University Graduate in Medicine or Nursing. (Emergency specialization)
SKILLS
Languages: English (Spanish will be highly appreciated).
IT: MS-Office software package or similar, Internet and Email.
B1 driver’s licence will be taken into consideration.
EXPERIENCE
Experience in emergency services in hospitals (minimum 5 years). Experience working in health projects of international cooperation of minimum 1 year. Experience in conflict contexts. Indispensable to endow organizational skills and in public relations.
