Deputy Country Director – Programmes

Location: Sudan (the) - Khartoum

Overview of project

Broad portfolio of projects in West Darfur (Multisectoral in an acute and ongoing conflict) and South Kordofan (Multisectoral); Emergency Response to disease outbreaks etc.

Responsibilities

Management of grants (proposal writing, budget writing, report writing). Support to Field Project Coordinators in appropriate aspects of project management, financial management and implementation. Acting Country Director during leave, travel etc of the Country Director.

Qualifications

- University degree and / or relevant professional experience
- Post-graduate qualification in relief or development

Experience

- 2 years experience in senior management position
- 2-3 years progressively senior field management experience in relief & rehabilitation projects in insecure environments
- Advanced project and management skills; Excellent communication skills

- Minimum time commitment of 1 year
- Strong adherence to Medair values
- Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
- Familiar with Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Able to live and work with a multicultural team under difficult conditions
- Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty
- Single or married - without children, no dependent children
- Successful completion of Medair Relief/Rehabilitation Orientation Course (ROC)
