(CLOSED) Health Coordinator

Closing date: 23 Nov 2009 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Democratic Republic of the Congo (the) - Goma

Since 2007, CARE International has implemented an innovative and successful reproductive health program in South Maniema with components of family planning, prevention/response to sexual and gender-based violence, PMTCT, and obstetric care. The success of this project, the large uncovered needs in reproductive health in the DRC and the growing capacity of the Country Office, led to the opening of other emergency projects in primary and reproductive health in North Kivu too. A Health Coordinator is needed for 6 months in order to build on our current portfolio to increase the health sector and our impact on beneficiaries.

The Health Coordinator will be largely involved in health-related analyses and in finding synergies with other programmatic sectors (Gender Equity, Emergency, Community Development, and Governance).

This short term position is an opportunity to develop health programming, especially reproductive health, and to participate to an exciting strategic planning that will shape the DRC mission for years to come.

- Experience of complex emergencies (civil wars, etc) and stressful contexts
