The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s frontline food assistance agency, is currently seeking a Donor and Private Sector Relations Officer for an available position in its Regional Bureau for the Middle East, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, based in Cairo (Egypt).
The Donor & Private Sector Relations Officer, will serve as the business development and partnership manager in the Middle East by giving strategic advice and consultation in prospecting, targeting and developing the corporate donor base in the Middle East especially in Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Developing country-specific strategies and action plans for private sector fundraising and partnerships;
- Developing strategies to increase funding from a) new donor groups (such as high net-worth individuals, philanthropic foundations and individuals); b) current donors; and c) reactivation of former donors;
- Assisting in the development and refinement of the overall Middle East private sector fundraising strategy, plan of work and prioritization of activities;
- Maintaining relations with current and new private partners in the region;
- Preparing and delivering presentations to potential donors;
- Liaising with in-house services to ensure proper fund management;
- Providing follow-up on all matters related to the implementation of funds and the fulfilment of all contractual obligations;
- Researching, analysing and preparing reports as required;
- Analysing and advising on current private donor policies, trends and preferences;
- Advising on new market sector development.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Language
High level of both written and oral proficiency in English and Arabic.
Other UN languages (Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish and Portuguese) are an asset.
Experience
- At least seven years (of which three years international) of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in fundraising, developing public-private partnerships, negotiations, public relations/advocacy are required.
- A minimum of five years experience in the Middle East region as well as specific experience and networks in the Gulf countries.
- Proven track record in private fundraising, corporate sponsorships, public-private partnership development, and/or management of corporate social responsibility (CSR) portfolios in the region.
Education
Advanced University Degree (Masters Degree) in one or more of the following disciplines: political science, international development, marketing, communications, MBA or other related field.
