Location: Democratic Republic of the Congo (the) - Kinshasa
The Senior Logistics Coordinator provides technical leadership to a dedicated and efficient logistics department serving seven sites, five challenging emergency and post conflict program sectors and hundreds of humanitarian staff. The Senior Logistics Coordinator is charged with ensuring high levels of accountability within the delivery of efficient logistic support services.
Responsibilities:
1. Policy Development and Compliance – Lead collaboration with program and finance management colleagues to ensure IRC operational policies are tailored to the operating environment and that IRC programs throughout DRC are achieving optimum levels of policy compliance.
2. Capacity Development – Produce and deploy training programs to enhance both logistics and program teams understanding and compliance with IRC logistics policies. Travel throughout the IRC’s program sites to ensure that training is appropriate and targeting the capacity needs of IRC colleagues.
3. Service Delivery Efficiency Analysis and Support – Working in partnership with Field based management assess and maximize the levels of standardization and efficiency found with logistics systems. Audit service delivery to identify blockages and opportunities for higher levels of efficiency and accountability.
This position reports to the Director Operations. This position manages 1 international staff and 5 national staffers, while at the same time providing technical support to a further 3 international staff 3 national Logistics management staff. The post holder will be expected to frequently travel to field to provide technical guidance and support to the Logistics team
Requirements:
1. Graduate degree in logistics, supply chain management or equivalent business administration
2. At least five years of oversees experience (ideally in Africa), preferably in relief/development work with supervisory responsibilities in operations management.
3. Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
4. Proven track record in designing and deploying capacity building training schemes;
5. Ability to lead, manage and support staff (including field/remote areas)
6. Fluent written and spoken French and English essential;
Specific Security Situation/Housing : While Kinshasa is one of the largest and poorest cities in central Africa the security situation is stable. Staff are encouraged to move around the city using IRC vehicles to decrease risk of petty crime. The Senior Logistics Coordinator will be provided with individual housing.
