mothers2mothers (m2m)
mothers2mothers (m2m) is an international non-governmental organization based in Cape Town, SA, dedicated to providing education and support to pregnant women and mothers living with HIV, and preventing mother-to-child transmission. m2m empowers HIV-positive pregnant women and new mothers to become role models in their communities by promoting AIDS awareness, testing and services. m2m currently operates in 7 countries in Africa and receives funding from a diverse set of funders.

Location: Kenya

The Country Representative will provide in-country support for mothers2mothers program implementation. A new office for m2m must be established and maintained in Kenya. Additionally, the Country Representative will provide strategic and technical leadership to the implementing partners to facilitate the exciting national scale-up of the m2m model in Kenya. The position is based in Nairobi but reports to the Regional Program Director - Eastern Africa (based at m2m's headquarters in Cape Town, South Africa).

Type of Contract: 2 year fixed term

Base: Nairobi (accompanied posting)
Salary: US$70,000 ++ salary per annum inclusive

Competencies Required:

- The enthusiasm to work on behalf of m2m's mother and infant clients.
- An appropriate advanced degree in health, international development, management or a related field;
- Significant experience with HIV/AIDS, including preventing mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) -specific experience and technical expertise in relevant domains;
- A proven record of thinking strategically, in addition to demonstrated success in program management;
- Familiarity with the donor and national political context, systems and processes of Kenya;
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to conduct relationships with m2m partners, government officials and medical staff;
- The willingness to travel within Kenya to support country programming, as well as to m2m HQ in South Africa when necessary;
- Preference for experience in Kenyan national-level health sector approaches, such as advising the Kenyan government in program policy and/or scale-up;
