(CLOSED) Field Manager - Ref. 43/09-10

Closing date: 08 Nov 2009 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Ethiopia - Bokol Mayo, Somali Region

Reporting to the Emergency Manager, the selected person will be the reference and the representative of the Organisation in the Bokol Mayo Base, Somali Region in Ethiopia, coordinating all the activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • To lead the humanitarian response in the area under her/ his responsibility
  • To contribute to the development of a humanitarian response strategy and an action plan, in collaboration with the Emergency Manager and the Regional Coordinator in Barcelona Headquarters.
  • To supervise the administration of Human Resources, Finance and Logistics in the base.
  • To represent IO when meeting official agencies in the region, so as to give an efficient response to local authorities.
  • To guarantee the correct implementation of the security policies of the mission.
  • To provide a continuous follow-up of the humanitarian situation.
  • To supervise the programme#s budgets.
  • To supervise the maintenance of infrastructures, equipment and logistical material in the base.
  • To write regular reports for regular monitoring of projects activities within the humanitarian response in his/her area of intervention.
  • To perform and coordinate the report writing for the donors, taking into account their requirements and respecting the time deadlines.
  • To coordinate, monitor and coach the local partners in the project.

Experience and Skills
  • A minimum experience of 2 years in a management position in Humanitarian Programmes. An experience in emergency programmes is indispensable.
  • Languages: Proficient in English.
  • Management and leadership skills, with a special emphasis on Project management and team building.
  • Ability to act as a part of a multi-cultural and multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to represent the Organisation and negotiate in its name.
  • Result orientated and organisational capacity
  • High flexibility and adaptation to change in complex environments.
  • We are looking preferably for regional candidates

Working Conditions
  • Contract of employment: Contract for 6 months with the possibility of renewal.
  • Salary: According to the Intermón Oxfam country salary scale.
  • Social benefits: Medical, life and accident insurance provided by the institution.
  • Holidays: 28 working days per year (2009).
  • Working place: Bokol Mayo, Somali Region in Ethiopia.
  • Start date: asap
