Headquartered in Amsterdam, the central Secretariat of Aflatoun is responsible for meeting the strategic goals of the Aflatoun Network and country programmes, while advocating for children's social and financial empowerment. The Aflatoun Secretariat is a dynamic and result-driven organisation and consists of a staff of 15 people with approximately 11 nationalities.

Aflatoun aims to change perceptions around the world on the participation of children in economic and financial systems, while advocating for life-skills education based on Aflatoun's Curriculum for these children. The Head of Resource Mobilization will need to liaise Aflatoun with governments, corporations, international civil society organisations and other international institutions, as well as ensure the organisation has sufficient funding for its strategic goals.

The Head of Resource Mobilization will work closely with and report to the Executive Director, playing a key role in developing strategies and programmes to achieve above objectives. Working with a team he/she will be specifically responsible for:

- The raising of resources for the Secretariat, as well as for international Aflatoun partner organizations and their Aflatoun programmes;

- The presentation of Aflatoun during (inter)national and regional events;

- Developing, at CEO level, relationships within the global corporate financial world, governments, bilateral, and multilateral agencies;

- Developing and sustaining relationships with international civil society organizations;

- The organisation of annual network conferences and fundraising events

Requirements

- Demonstrated fundraising and resource mobilization track record;

- Work experience of 10 years in the development sector;

- Fluent in English. knowledge of Dutch, Spanish, or French is desirable ;

- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with particular strength in presentation (fluent English required);

- Ability to create, maintain and leverage international networks in finance, education, and civil society sectors;

- Proven ability to supervise and guide multidisciplinary/co-financing proposals;

- Proven track record of fundraising in non-profit setting;

- Demonstrated management skills for a small team (4-5) of motivated, multicultural co-workers;

- Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under pressure;

- Background in resource mobilization and advocacy;

- International experience;

- Creative and proactive personality;

- Ability to travel frequently (at least 30% time)

Conditions of employment

Aflatoun offers the successful candidate a one-year extendable contract based on a 40-hour fulltime workweek, with paid vacation leave (23 full-time days) and sick leave according to Dutch standards.
