International Medical Corps is a global humanitarian nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives and relieving suffering through health care training and relief and development programs.
Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, IMC is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in areas worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at high risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, IMC rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.
Under the supervision of the Counry Director the WATSAN Coordinator's responsibilities include:
- Responsible for overall management, coordination and overall integrity of WatSan programs
- Manage WATSAN program activities including budget and ensure that all work is completed within the specified timeframe and to a high standard
- Provide direction and technical advice to the water and sanitation intervention team on issues of procurement, supply, design and installation
- Development of WatSan policies, strategies, best practices and guidelines for the target province
- Actively engage beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of the project
- Design and construction of water and sanitation system, overseeing the construction of wells, latrines, and waste disposal
- Carry out water quality analysis and train local staff and community members in water quality monitoring
- Training and building of local community capacity in maintenance of water and sanitation sites, such as wells and latrines
- Monitor and review over all WatSan materials and equipment movements such as deliveries, storage, transport and utilization
- Develop proposals, plans, concept papers and budgets for water and sanitation intervention in collaboration with the project team
- Represents IMC to donors and relevant government ministries as needed
- Conduct community assessments and make recommendations about the needs and vulnerabilities of targeted populations in relation to water, sanitation and hygiene issues.
- Compile monthly and quarterly reports as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor or Master’s Degree in civil engineering, water resources management, water treatment technologies or related field
- Previous experience in implementing rural water and sanitation projects, with at least 3-5 years of relevant project management experience
- Fluency in French
- Demonstrated analytical and conceptual skills to plan projects, timetable agreed activities and oversee activities
- Understanding of participatory methodologies for project design, implementation and evaluation
- Experience working with host governments, INGOs and national NGOs and familiarity with international humanitarian operations
- Good organizational and project management skills and the ability to anticipate project needs
- Proven ability to work cooperatively with others in a team environment
