Charity Manager/Administrator: building and steering a new international development and relief umbrella organisation.

A unique and exciting opportunity. The role-holder will steer the creation and growth of a new 'hub' organisation dedicated to Cambridge initiatives in the global relief of poverty and suffering. As the co-ordinator of a new initiative, a role akin to that of a general secretary, the post has scope for a great deal of dynamism and personal innovation both in shaping the direction of the Humanitarian Centre and in defining the post itself.
The post requires a person with 3-5 years experience in building organisations, project management, fundraising and administration. The role-holder will be confident liaising at a high level within the academic, governmental and international relief and development sectors. Excellent skills in communication and networking are essential. A passion for, and experience of, relief and development issues is essential, and field experience in the sector and developing country exposure is desirable. Flexibility can be build into the post for candidates with commitments in this sector.
The Humanitarian Centre is a new umbrella initiative seeking to further collectively the humanitarian and developmental missions of Cambridge-based voluntary organisations, local business and academia by bringing together local organisations that act globally. The Centre will support both its younger and more established members to become more than the sum of their parts through fostering a community of collaboration, skills and resource sharing and though catalysing the transformation of academic research into practice. The Centre is currently a University of Cambridge society and will become a charity in the near future.
