(CLOSED) Health Project Manager

Closing date: 31 Mar 2006 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Zimbabwe - Mashonaland Central Province, Rushinga and Mount Darwin

DURATION: 9 months

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
  • Qualified nurse or medical doctor
  • At least 3 year experience in public health projects in DCs
  • Knowledge of EU rules and procedures for project management
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent skills in delegation, time management and prioritising, financial management
  • Strong leadership skills and experience in dealing with government authorities
  • Very flexible, patient and with a positive attitude
  • Dynamic and willing to take initiative to complete assigned tasks
  • Willing to live in provincial towns and spend considerable time in rural areas and hospitals
  • Excellent knowledge of the English language, both written and spoken

DESIRABLE COMPETENCIES:
  • Master in Public Health
  • Previous experience in Africa and in remote areas
  • Previous experience in malaria prevention projects
  • Previous experience in project positions

WORK CONTEXT:

The project aims to support interventions for malaria prevention in strongly affected areas of Zimbabwe, in accordance with the National Roll Back Malaria (RBM) Strategic Plan and the World Health Organisation (WHO) RBM Country Strategy.

In Mashonaland Central Province, Rushinga and Mount Darwin, CESVI is especially involved in activities which provide assistance to improve the health care for local people by promoting accessibility of population to early diagnosis and prompt treatment, by reducing malaria transmission through vector control and personal prevention and by increasing awareness of grassroots community.

All CESVI activities in the country are financed by the EU, private funds and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

JOB DESCRIPTION

The project will be implemented in Mashonaland Central Province, Rushinga and Mount Darwin.

The person will ensure the implementation of the activities, writing reports and attending to financial management.

In particular:
  • S/He will be the Organization Representative, together with the Country Director, in front of the project interlocutors
  • S/He reports to the Regional Coordinator and to the Desk Officer in the HQs

According with his/her referent she/he draws up for the project:
- activities planning
- administrative and financial planning
  • S/He assures an efficient office organization and a correct registration of the project documentation
  • S/He guarantees the project reports respecting the deadline required by Donors, HQs, her/his referent
  • S/He is in charge of the procurement operations guaranteeing the respect of the donor( EU), Organization and Local Government rules
  • S/He guarantees the conservation and management of the reserved information
  • S/He is responsible of the Staff employed
  • In accordance with the HQs indications, s/he assures the flows of information needed to support the Fund Raising activities and the social and economical reports
