Internews Network is currently seeking a Program Associate to provide technical and administrative support in our Nairobi, Kenya office. This is a local hire only, with no relocation or expatriate benefits. Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:
- Assist in preparation of proposals, reports and budgets; write, edit, proof, revise and assemble finished materials
- Maintain project activity tracking schedules for project development, field reports, and follow-up communications with funders
- Assist the Resident Advisor with project oversight, including financial tracking and progress towards program deliverables
- Assist with PR for our project, including with local staff recruitment
- Provide direct oversight for the budget, including the tracking of receipts
- Assist with managing office staff.
- Provide direct oversight with procurement and the processing of tax exempt forms, including equipment and software pricing, procurement, insurance, and shipping of those items to Kenya
- Occasionally represent Internews and the desk to other NGOs, funders, and government officials
- Assist with research on Kenya media issues
- Develop and maintain up-to-date briefing and PR materials for active programs
- Coordinate travel logistics, assist with visa applications, and arrange accommodations for the Resident Advisor, Regional/Global Director and other Internews representatives
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-3 years development project experience, including field experience, or a relevant advanced degree
- Experience with financial management and familiarity with USAID rules and regulations; experience with internal Internews administration procedures is preferred
- Superior analytical and writing ability and
- excellent oral communication and presentation skills
- Experience with proposal and report writing
- Experience preparing expense reports and budgets
- Experience with MS Excel and Word
- Proven organization skills, with attention to detail
- Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize with a shifting workload
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a multicultural environment
- Relevant university degree
- Experience with event planning and/or arranging logistics for project implementation abroad
