Internationa NGO supporting refugees, internally displaced persons and others affected by conflict or natural disasters.
Closing date: 30 Sep 2005 -- (CLOSED)
Location: Angola - Lubango (Southern Angola)
ZOA Refugee care is an international NGO operating in more than 10 countries worldwide. ZOA gives aid irrespective of faith, race or nationality but is funded largely by the Dutch Protestant church community, so having an active involvement within the Protestant community is an important requirement for ZOA senior staff. ZOA has worked in Southern Angola for the past 7 years, providing essential rehabilitation services to communities in the Northern part of Hula Province from its country office in Lubango. ZOA is shifting emphasis from infrastructure and resettlement to capacity development and is considering a scale down and exit in the coming years. The country programme has recently been through a reorganisation, consolidation and staff reduction exercise. In order to lead the country programme through it’s next phase ZOA seeks the services of a Country Director who can provide integral and balanced leadership to all aspects of the programme. The duty station for this post is Lubango which is a family duty station with limited schooling possibilities. Fluency in Portuguese will be a definite advantage.
Candidates for these challenging senior positions must be graduates preferably with a postgraduate qualification in management or a related development field. They must also have substantial management experience in an international setting within a development context. Experience in emergency assistance and/or rural development and some exposure to security management is also desirable. These challenging positions will attract leaders who are flexible and adaptable with interpersonal and cross cultural sensitivity and the ability to work under pressure in a sometimes fluid environment.
