Job context:
In Freetown hospital, Handicap International (HI) undertakes activities targeting IDPs (internal displaced persons) victims of mutilation (especially upper limbs), working with a multidisciplinary team i.e orthoprosthetist, physiotherapist and psychologist.
Job description:
1 - Support the orthopaedic workshop manager on technical and management aspects with the objective for him to become self-reliable on:
- team management
- workshop organisation
- representation in internal department and programme meetings, as well as external ones
- collecting and updating statistics, etc.
2 - Provide technical support to the team and participate to the training of orthopaedics students in 2003.
The objective is to bring all the orthopaedic technicians to the same level and to produce prosthesis and orthosis, according to the needs of people with disability.
The different steps will be :
- gather the two current teams in one
- encourage team supervision by the workshop manager
- provide quality orthopaedic devices intended to any kind of person with physical disability, using a global rehabilitation approach
3 - To complete your assignment, you will perform (if possible) a one-month assessment mission in 2004.
Applicant profile:
- proficiency in English required
- certified orthoprosthetist with minimum 3 years experience
- experience of specific orthopaedic device techniques for varied pathologies
- experience in adult training
- experience in team and finance management
Preferred arrival date: ASAP
Length of mission: 1 year + 1 month assessment mission in 2004 (if possible)
