Salary: £26,761 + pension.
Location: London based with travel (Pending review July 2003).
This is an exciting opportunity to join Christian Aid's Emergencies Team with the primary purpose of developing the capacity of Christian Aid and its partner organisations to respond more effectively to emergencies.
You will focus on managing and implementing Christian Aids emergency preparedness programme, organising partner training initiatives and develop activities aimed at ensuring best practice in emergency response by partners and Christian Aid in emergencies. You will have responsibility for developing risk reduction and disaster mitigation initiatives within the international department. You also be required to undertake assessments of emergency situations and support partners and field office staff in managing the emergency response.
Qualifications
You will have at least five years overseas work experience of which two should be in managing emergency programmes. You will have a good understanding of emergency and development issues, SPHERE and the Code of Conduct and experience of developing and facilitating training workshops. This post will be based in London but will require travel to potentially high risk countries.
