Madagascar: Tropical Cyclone Jade - Apr 2009

Disaster description

On 6-7 Apr 2009, Tropical Storm Jade passed over the east coast of Madagascar, affecting an estimate of 60,818 people . Of these, 4,090 lost their dwellings and had little or no access to water, and a further 5,628 traditional dwellings were damaged. Fifteen people were killed. Water sources were contaminated and agricultural land flooded. (UN Country Team in Madagascar, 6 May 2009)
