World Vision Afghanistan mourns loss of two staff members

World Vision mourns the loss of two highly valued Afghan colleagues killed in Afghanistan in the late afternoon of July 22nd. The men were returning to their regional office from a work-related visit to a World Vision health clinic in the province of Ghowr when they were shot.

Afghan police, with the full cooperation of World Vision Afghanistan, are investigating the murders of a World Vision driver and a pharmacy stock keeper. Afghan police reports that one suspect has been arrested.

World Vision has suspended activities in the area and deeply regrets the disruption of essential aid to the Afghan people. World Vision will continue to monitor the situation and resume operations as soon as possible. World Vision regrets the increasing violence throughout Afghanistan and calls for the safe passage of humanitarian agencies and their workers.
