The Minister of Administration and Interior, Mr. Vasile Blaga has pointed out that the structures with possibilities of reaction in emergencies make all efforts to help people. Minister Vasile Blaga has showed that certain difficulties are encountered in interventions because "the flash floods come from the hills not from the river beds and it is very difficult to take action".
Minister Vasile Blaga made these statements during the videoconference with prefects, convened today by Prime Minister at Victoria Palace.

The Secretary of State in MAI (Ministry of Administration and Interior) Mr. Victor Paul Dobre is paying a visit in Bistrita Nasaud County, this being the most affected area by the latest days' calamities, the Minister of Administration and Interior has stated.

The human resources are assisted by technical intervention means which were made available by the two Ministries in all the affected areas.

Minister Vasile Blaga has stated that there is solidarity among the communities of the flood affected areas. "People of these areas are very hard working, and the local administrations' action is praiseworthy. Given their assistance, we hope to succeed in removing the calamities' effects as soon as possible", the Minister of Administration and Interior has stated.

The floods damaged 87 localities, 1.437 dwellings, 5.135 hectares of arable land, a national road and 78 bridges. A special problem the authorities are dealing with is the re-establishment of the electrical power supply and the telephone communications in some localities.

The Bistrita- Nasaud authorities' priority - the finding of the missing persons

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Administration and Interior, Mr. Victor Paul Dobre, who is currently in Bistrita - Nasaud has stated that the local authorities' priority is the finding of the five missing persons and the un- blocking of the access roads to hamlets.

Mr. Dobre has shown that the anti-tetanos vaccination started in the county affected localities, and in these areas, there is a sanitary unit and permanent ambulances to intervene in case of emergencies. Food and water, as well as diesel oil to supply the evacuation pumps are assured to the inhabitants of Catune locality.

Mr. Victor Paul Dobre has shown that detergents and sanitary materials distribution is needed.

"The authorities of Bistrita - Nasaud have acted responsibly and efficiently. The flood affected people started reconstructing their houses, cleaning their households. We will help them too, with MAI units. The situation is about to return to normality", the Secretary of State has added.

Warnings for all the damaged localities

On the videoconference, the Director of the National Administration of Meteorology (ANM), Mr. Ion Sandu has stated that 28 warnings were conveyed three hours ahead of rains in all the flood affected localities.

He has further presented the way action was taken to inform the authorities in the areas in which important meteorological phenomena were about to take place. "28 warnings were conveyed to all localities three hours ahead. It is difficult to take measures in three hours, there cannot be taken proper action in this time interval", Mr. Ion Sandu has stated.

He has further showed that tomorrow, there will be conveyed a new warning for the northern, western and central areas of the country, where important rain amounts are forecast to fall. On June 23rd, the rains will have maximum intensity, and on June 24th, the amounts will be smaller in Maramures, Transylvania and Oltenia.

The maps with forecasts for the next weeks show that on June 26th - July 2nd, there will be problems in the northern area of the country, and rains in normal limits will follow, the Director of the National Administration of Meteorology has stated. He has added that that the forecasts on the next six months show that until September, the Maramures, Crisana, centre of Transylvania and the north of Moldova will be affected. "The rest of the territory seems not to encounter serious problems", the ANM Director has stated. He has added that interventions should be made both at the level of responsible authorities and mass media in order to draw the attention on the dangers to which the persons of the risky areas are exposed.
