Landslide kills one in western Georgia

A man died and five others were injured as a result of a landslide in the Chokhatauri district of the Guria region in western Georgia on October 5. Reportedly, access to some villages has been cut off.

Dozens of houses were flooded as a result of heavy rains in the western Georgian regions of Samegrelo, Guria and Adjara Autonomous Republic. Many bridges and roads have been washed away.

About 30 families have already been evacuated from the flood-stricken region of Zugdidi. Floods have also been reported in Poti and several other towns of western Georgia.

As a result of a severe storm at sea, houses located on the shoreline of the Adjara Autonomous Republic were flooded leaving many people homeless.
