Drinking water bottles to be delivered to Myanmar

The Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Sithichai Kowsurat, says the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority is cooperating with the Royal Thai Army to distribute 15,000 bottles of drinking water worth over 50,000 baht to the people who have been affected by Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar last week. He says they will reach Myanmar in the next couple of days, and around 20,000 to 30,000 additional drinking water bottles are expected to be delivered later as well.

Mr. Sithichai says the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation under the Ministry of Interior is also preparing to dispatch their personnel to help the troubled people in Myanmar. He says he will travel to the disaster-hit areas as well as shifted land areas in Thailand.

Regarding the Cabinet reshuffle, the Deputy Minister of Interior says the quota for the Puea Pandin (For the Motherland) Party is unchanged. He says the political situation should stay calm for now so economic and social issues can be addressed quickly.
