June 3 (Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 0900 GMT on Tuesday:
KIRKUK - A roadside bomb struck an Iraqi police patrol in central Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, wounding six policemen, police said.
KIRKUK - A roadside bomb wounded two people driving a farming vehicle in Riyadh district, southwest of Kirkuk, police said.
BAGHDAD - The U.S. military said they captured two men with suspected ties to al-Qaeda and detained another five believed to have links to militant groups in Mosul and Tikrit.
KUT - Coalition forces captured a "special
groups" leader and five associates in Kut, 150 (95 miles) southeast
of Baghdad, said the U.S. military. "Special Groups" is a term
the U.S. military uses to describe rogue elements of Shi'ite cleric Moqtada
al-Sadr's militia it says are backed by Iran.
