Jordan airlifts aid to quake-hit Indonesia

AMMAN, Jun 3, 2006 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- A Jordanian plane with tons of relief supplies left for Indonesia on Saturday to help survivors of the devastating earthquake that hit central Indonesia last Saturday.
The C130 plane, operated by the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), carried 12 tons of blankets and tents.

Secretary General of JHCO al-Abbadi said the organization has received donations of medical supplies from the Jordanian Health Ministry and Dar AL Hekmeh and Dar Al Dawa'a pharmaceutical companies. The donations will be airlifted to Indonesia by JHCO as soon as possible, he said.

Indonesia was hit by a powerful earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale last Saturday, leaving over 6,200 people dead and more than 46,000 injured.
