The NWFP government has provided another
450 tents, 4,000 blankets and 50 generators to authorities of quake-hit
districts to minimize the sufferings of the victims.
Provincial health minister, Inayatullah
was briefed during a meeting held here to review relief activities in the
quake-hit areas of the province which also discussed strategy for rehabilitation
of health infrastructure in these areas.
The Minister said the health department will continue to provide free treatment to those patients who were injured severely in the earthquake and were still under treatment in teaching hospitals of the province.
Highlighting steps for rehabilitation of health facilities, the meeting was informed that a number of donors, including both local and international have pledged for reconstruction of hospitals in the affected areas.
Giving details of the strategy prepared by Health department, the Health Minister disclosed that list of priorities for rehabilitation of health facilities was prepared."
Only offers of those donors will be accepted which are in lines with the standards set by the UNO" he remarked. Urging the need for improving coordination and maintaining momentum in relief activities, the minister ordered to arrange meeting of the Coordination Committee after a fortnight on regular basis.
He also directed the concerned EDOs to ensure review meetings with the donor agencies every week. He also ordered proper follow up of the coordination body's decisions.
Those who attended the meeting included representatives from WHO, Save the Children, UNFPA, EDOs Health of affected districts, Dean PGMI NWFP, Chief Executives of Lady Reading Hospital and Hayatabad Medical complex and other high ups of the health department.
