Thailand: Mindulle leaves 13 provinces inundated

BANGKOK, 30 August 2010 (NNT) - A total of 13 provinces in the northern and northeastern regions have been hit by flashfloods over the last six days due to heavy downpours caused by Tropical Storm Mindulle.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, torrential rains in the 13 provinces in the North and the Lower Northeast during 24-29 August were mainly influenced by Tropical Storm Mindulle in the Gulf of Tonkin. As a result, the affected areas have been troubled by sudden floods.

Therefore, the Ministry has initially prepared 577 water pumps to be delivered to the flood-stricken provinces for drainage.
